Introducing the Human Security Project
3/11/2025
The world is at an inflection point. The efficacy of the “rules-based order” is being tested like never before. Violations of international humanitarian and human rights law occur with systematic impunity and shocking frequency. Insecurity and displacement have become endemic.
The peace and justice fields are in a crisis. The global funding crunch, the rise of far-right repressive populism, and the erosion of international levers for peace and protection are putting enormous pressure on the NGO and activist world.
The implications of the destruction of USAID are still taking shape. But we are already seeing the direct impact on civilians the world over. People are being abandoned, suffering, and dying. The imperative of localization is demonstrated by the global repercussions of a single donor’s actions.
In this pivotal moment, we started the Human Security Project (HSP) to offer a platform for practitioners, researchers, and activists to break through the silos, status quo, and stagnation that hang over our collective fields. While there is much uncertainty today, one thing is clear: our fields need new approaches.
HSP was built to be a platform for new and emerging approaches to prevention, protection, peacebuilding, and justice. We want to work with you to push beyond conventional analysis and recommendations.
Are you a seasoned professional with a new take on a key issue? A human rights defender with something to say but who cannot publish under their name due to safety concerns? Recently unemployed from the government or an NGO and have an insider’s take on the current crisis we find ourselves in? Someone with a great idea, but you need some help or co-authors to get it over the finish line? We want to hear from you!
Fill out the submission inquiry form or email us at info@humansecurityproject.org.
In these difficult times, we need to work together to find common solutions to the world’s greatest challenges. We look forward to working with you.
